PRODUCT DESIGNER • WEB DESIGNER • BRAND DESIGNER

I make complicated things feel obvious.

I'm a product, web, and brand designer with a decade of in-house design at Inuvo, earlier work for Verizon, and my own studio, Very Swell. I'm comfortable with code and AI tools, so I can build working prototypes and interactions when an idea needs to be felt as well as seen, but design is where I do my best work.

What I believe

WHAT I BELIEVE

AI MAKES ME FASTER.HUMAN DESIGN IS THE LUXURY.

AI is good at pattern recognition, technical guidance, brainstorming, and finding edge cases, and I use it to guide my thinking, iterate, and speed up the boring parts of the work. It doesn't replace the important decisions. The design, the empathy, and the creativity behind them are human, and that's the part worth protecting.

PROCESS

Okay, so here's how it usually goes.

  1. 01

    Find what's actually broken.

I talk to the people stuck with the problem before I open Figma. The brief is rarely the whole story.

  2. 02

    Research before design.

Interviews, analytics, a messy flow on a whiteboard. This is where my first idea usually gets proven wrong, which is the point.

  3. 03

    Design in the real material.

Real content, real constraints, and a prototype that behaves like the product, not a picture of it.

  4. 04

Hand it off, then check it.

I hand designs to developers with clear specs and working prototypes, stay close through the build, and then look at whether it worked.

What I bring

Also: early on AI in the design workflow. I use it throughout my process, and I design brand systems that hand off as Markdown, JSON, and HTML so they're ready for AI tools.

Skip the small talk.

What's your biggest strength?

I'm very self-aware. I can tell quickly when I don't know something, and I'm not afraid to say so or to own a mistake. Nobody gets everything right all the time. What matters is catching it early and figuring out what to do, whether that's learning it, fixing it, or bringing in someone who knows more, before it affects the timeline or the scope.

How do you work with engineers?

Early and often. I bring engineers in before the design is settled, because they'll spot constraints I can't see from Figma. I understand front-end development well enough to design things that can actually be built. And when Figma can't show how something should move or behave, I build a quick working prototype so developers see exactly what I mean instead of guessing from a redline.

How are you using AI in your work?

As a design partner. I use it to brainstorm, find edge cases, and speed up the boring parts, and to build working prototypes so I can test an interaction before it reaches a developer. The important decisions stay mine.
